Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park is situated in Serengeti Ecosystem in the Mara and Simiyu Regions in Tanzania. The park inhabits more than 1.5 million wildebeest and 250,000 zebras that migrate annually through ecosystem. The Park is prominently known for the great migration of wildebeest traversing the Mara River risking their lives in the eyes of hungry crocodiles that lay beneath the waters waiting to have a catch.
Other than the wildebeest, the park inhabits other wildlife animals like 4000 lions, 1000 leopard, 550 cheetahs as well as 500 bird species.
How to Get to Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park is suitably located in a region that can be accessed using both Air and Road Transport via the Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha where you leave from to the Park.
By Air;
International Flights to the Park
While going to Serengeti, we recommend you use the Kilimanjaro International Airport as an entry point due to its location between Moshi and Arusha Town. The Airport is located about 200 miles/ 320 kilometres from the Southern Entry of the Park. There are numerous flight options await you here i.e KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airlines.
Regional Flights to the Park
Domestic Flights are available to transfer travellers from Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport taking a period of 1 to 5 hours. There are also i.e 7 Airstrips that are managed by Grumeti Air or Coastal Aviation. After reaching te Park, you are picked up by a driver guide who transfers you to Your hotel for Dinner and Overnight.

- Lake Victoria Region’s preferred Airport is Mwanza Airport
By Road;
Serengeti National Park can be accessed by road in a 4×4 Car Vehicle that transfers you from Arusha Town to Serengeti National Park for 8 hours. You can also transfer from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda to the Park.
Access Gates into Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park has four different entry Gates in which travellers can access the Park and these include;
Naabi Hill Gate
The Naabi Hill Gate is the main and busiest Gate into the Park situated 45 kilometres from the prominent Seronera Region.
Ndabaka Gate
The Ndabaka Gate is the most appropriate for travellers that follow through the Western Corridor Area taking about a 1.5 hours’ drive from Mwanza and 145 kilometres from Seronera.
Klein’s Gate
If you are travelling from the North East of the Park, this is the Gate for you.
Bologonya Gate
This works for travellers en-route to or from Kenya.
When to visit Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park can be visited anytime around the year although we advise you travel during the Great Migration episode where you watch wildebeest traverse the Mara River to Serengeti. This is ideal during te dry season from the months of late June to October.
We also recommend travellers to visit the Park during the Low Season because when the visitor’s numbers are low the camps and accommodation rates are low compared to the Peak season.

Watch the Herds Traverse the River
Watching the Wildebeests in Serengeti National Park is the number 1 attraction and this includes watching herds of wildebeest and zebras traversing the Mara River. The migration occurs in the months of July to September.
Enjoy a Hot Air Balloon Safari
While in Serengeti National Park, travellers can take on a Hot Air Balloon Safari which soars you above the wildlife animals as you sip champagne breakfast out in the wilderness. The Safari offers you beautiful views of the Serengeti Plains, various wildlife animals as well as the Seronera Region.
