Mountain Gahinga Volcano
Elevated at 3,474m (11,394 ft), Mountain Gahinga Volcano is an extinct volcano in the Virunga Mountains along the Rwanda and Uganda border between Muhabura and Sabinyo Volcanoes. The Mountain Volcano is the smallest of all the three Mountain Volcanoes. This volcano is the smallest of all the three with Gahinga meaning a small pile of stones.
The Volcano includes a Swampy Caldera at the top which is believed to be 180 m (591 ft) wide. Mountain Mgahinga National Park is named after this amazing Mountain Volcano which is one of the 8 Volcanic Mountains of the Mufumbiro ranges which span traversing Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Flora around the Mountain
Mount Gahinga Volcano comprises of stunning vegetation cover of Afro-Montane with Bamboo being the most prominent. The Bamboo inhabits the rare species of Mountain Gorillas and other wildlife species like the Golden Monkeys which are fond of jumping and playing within the tree branches.
