Mgahinga National Park Uganda
Mgahinga National Park is located in the South West of Uganda after the busy town of Kisoro. From the Entebbe International Airport, travelers transfer for a period of 7 to 8 hours then after a while you reach the park.
The Park is famously known to offer amazing Gorilla Trekking Tours to all travelers that visit the country for Gorilla Trekking Safaris.
Other than Gorilla Trekking at the Park, various other activities are carried out and these include; Golden Monkey Tracking, Bird watching, Cultural Encounters, Hiking and Nature Walks to the close by communities.
How to Get to Mgahinga National Park
Mgahinga National Park is located close to the border of Uganda and Rwanda in the South West. The Park can be accessed by use of both Road and Air Transport.
By Road; travelers leave from the Entebbe International Airport to the Western Part of Uganda then South West through Kisoro Town then to the Park.
From Kisoro Town, you embark onto a rugged bumpy road which gives you views of the three Mountain Volcanoes in the park i.e Mount Gahinga Volcano, Mount Muhavura Volcano and Mount Sabinyo Volcano. After a while, you reach the Park headquarters.
Best Time to Visit Mgahinga National Park
Mgahinga National Park can be visited anytime around the year by travelers interested in watching the Mountain Gorillas as well as engage in varying other activities. The Best Time to visit the park is during the dry and short rain season in the months of June to September.
This is because the trails are clearer and navigable and photography of the Gorillas, Golden Monkeys is clear.

Mountain Gorilla Trekking
Mountain Gorilla Trekking is the most popular safari activity carried out in the park. The adventure gives you an opportunity to trek and watch the Gorillas. You proceed to the park headquarters for short briefing on conduct around the Mountain Gorillas then later in allocated groups of 8 with a lead ranger, you enter the green forest to trek the Gorillas for 3 to 5 hours and after a while, you meet them and stay in their presence taking photos to keep.
Golden Monkey Tracking
Golden Monkey Tracking is another exciting safari adventure to do in the park and this involves tracking the golden orange colored monkey in its natural forest habitat.
You transfer to the Park headquarters for short briefing on conduct around the Golden Monkeys then later in groups with a guide you enter the forest then follow the Golden Monkeys for a period of 2 to 4 hours from one trail to another taking photos to keep.
After Golden monkey tracking, return back to the headquarters then to lodge or hotel for relaxation.
Bird watching
Mgahinga National Park is perfect for Bird watching as many different bird species inhabit the forest vegetation around the park. These birds are fond of flying from none tree to another as they sing, make unique sounds making the whole adventure very exciting. These birds include;
Hiking and Nature Walks
Mgahinga National Park is also awesome on hiking and nature walks that are led by a skilled park ranger guide who informs you about the terrain, species around the park. These Nature walks follow different trails which are straight as they criss-cross each other and these include;
